In November of 2008, I was sitting in a crowded Baltimore bar (in Federal Hill) with some friends. We had just finished our 1st round of beers, but there wasn't a server in sight, and there was a line at the bar 3 rows deep.
After 20 minutes of trying to get another round, I realized how broken this process was. We wanted drinks and the bar wanted sales and there was a barrier to both. I went home that night and created a business plan that I shared with my friends and family that solved this problem. Then I got approval from the State of Maryland and the Baltimore City Liquor Boards confirming that my self-serve system met the local and State Liquor laws. The final step was to build a prototype and put the first Mobile Self-Serve Beer System into the market. In April 2009, Mothers Federal Hill Grille was the recipient of that prototype.
Josh grew up in Chester, Virginia. He received a football scholarship to play Linebacker at Shippensburg University, where he set the career solo tackles record. Prior to founding the company in 2009, he worked in Business Development with Modis, an IT Staffing firm. He was responsible for building the Baltimore Metro market for the company. He landed several blue chip accounts that took that market from non-existent to top producing market in a matter of 24 months. His wife, Janette (Shippensburg University Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee) and their 2 children, Tyler and Brianna, live in Northbrook, Illinois.
Andrew grew up in Chester, Virginia and then made his way to James Madison University for his undergraduate and Master's degrees. He was an active member of the Harrisonburg cycling community. As the eldest son of a cobol programmer, technology was injected early, frequently, and pragmatically. In 2016, Andrew reunited with his Little League teammate, Josh Goodman, and decided to join the company. He brings 16 years of experience working with a collection of tech giants in the delivery of automation, software development, and system integration projects. Andrew and his wife Laura live, ride, and surf in San Diego, CA.
Steve has 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. After graduation from The Ohio State University, Steve attended the California Culinary Academy. As a trained chef, Steve apprenticed at the Mandarin Oriental San Francisco and then headed to Colorado and worked at the Ritz-Carlton Aspen. Fast forward 20 years and Steve most recently was the National Sales Director for a beverage dispense company. Steve lives with his wife and two sons in Columbus, Ohio. He is active in his son's youth sports, enjoys snowboarding, golf and a frosty pint of ale while watching the Buckeyes dominate college football.
Roman initially came to the company as a prospective client. The opportunity to join the team presented itself and the rest is history. He is opening Chicago's first 62-tap self-pour bar in January 2017. In 2014, Roman traveled through South America, Europe and all over the United States. It seemed fitting that his first sale with the company was in Kazakhstan. A Chicagoland native, Roman attended Princeton University and consequently lived in NYC and San Francisco before coming home. When he's not focused on the self-pour revolution, you will find him playing drums in one of his three bands, riding bikes around Chicago, or painting.
Duncan fills in where we need the most help. One day it's job prep, another day it's video editing and he also helps in sales activities. He is from Wagga Wagga, Australia. An avid traveler and gatherer of experiences, Duncan completed his degree from the University of Sydney, then headed to Vail, Colorado to be a Ski instructor. While working with PourMyBeer this summer he traveled to NYC and directed tutorial videos, learned how to prep and deliver projects to customers and even provided sales and training support for our team.
Margaret joined the team in 2014 and brings more than 20 years of financial and operations management experience. Margaret's bilingual skills have been essential as the company grows throughout Central and South America. She has extensive experience in accounting, business support, financial planning and analysis. Raised in Chicago, she's a die-hard Bears and White Sox fan and enjoys an occasional craft beer. She lives well with her fiancee and their beloved pets--two rescued border collie lab mixes and a feisty 18 year old cat who runs the household.
Jason touches every aspect of the project. From drawing out your custom wiring diagram to managing logistics, he's an integral part in ensuring our perfect record when it comes to customer satisfaction. While Jason grew up managing his family farm near the Wisconsin Dells. After completing his degree in Green Bay, he spent several years as an instructor with youth development camps focused on technology. His experience in training and technical knowledge allow him to teach our customers how to install and use their awesome new self serve beer systems.
Thomas has installed more self-serve beer systems than anyone in the World - well over 200+ installations. Prior to working with self-serve beer systems, Thomas was on a full academic scholarship at the University of Maryland. At a young age, Thomas was taking apart anything electronic or mechanical and putting it back together. In his spare time, he competes semi-professionally in drifting cars. He also enjoys fixing and modifying cars. He and his fiancee, Brittany live near Baltimore, Maryland.
